It started with Alex missing the comfort food he grew up with and flavors he discovered while living abroad in Asia. He met Vanessa, a local girl who grew up in Wengen, and they bonded over their love of food — their “love language.”
Together, they explored the world of food. He brought her to Japan, where Alex proposed in Madarao, a ski resort that pioneered off-piste skiing in Japan. There, you could get a nice bowl of delicious ramen with some gyozas after a long day of skiing!
Inspired, Alex and Vanessa wanted to bring Asian comfort food to Wengen. However, bringing quality Asian ingredients to a remote, car-free village is not easy. Undeterred and driven by their belief that good food brings good people together, they started Lecker Asia.
Lecker means “tasty” or “delicious” in German, while Asia, reflects their love for Asian culture. Alex, a lifelong martial artist, takes inspiration from his idol Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, which emphasizes simplicity and blends different styles.
At Lecker Asia, we follow the same approach. Our dishes, inspired by diverse Asian cultures, focus on simplicity, quality ingredients, and, most importantly, food made with love.
